The Italian ministry of foreign affairs confirmed on 26 June 2023 in a press release that the Administrative committee of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) has unanimously decided to proceed with the establishment of the Milan section of a central division of the UPC.<\/p>\n

The Italian minister of foreign affairs commented: \u201cThis (…) confirms the central role played by Italy, Lombardy and Milan in the promotion and protection of innovation and intellectual property in Europe and worldwide\u201d.\"Milan<\/p>\n

The release also confirmed that work is under way to make the Milan section fully operational within the 12 months envisaged by UPC provisions.<\/p>\n

The technology areas of competence of the Milan section will initially be less than those originally assigned to the London section, according to a temporary decision previously issued by the UPC (read more here<\/a>).<\/p>\n
